The assessment can take place orally for those who have difficulties reading or writing.  Many foreign languages can be catered for.

The level 3 Certificate examines health and safety from a supervisory perspective

This qualification provides those in managerial and supervisory positions with appropriate knowledge and understanding of the issues involved. It is also suitable for those wishing to deliver CIEH health and safety qualifications as part of their training provision.

CIEH Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace Assessment Methodology

The assessment methodology for the CIEH Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace now comprises a controlled assignment and an examination paper both of which are to be completed under examination conditions.

Candidates who enrolled for a level 4 course prior to 1 January 2011 can continue to sit the old-style assessment (two assignments and a two-part examination paper) until 30 June 2011. After this date, all candidates will have to make the transition to the new-style assessment.

 

 

 


CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment

 

The CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment is a new CIEH qualification designed to help improve the workplace culture for occupational health and safety.

What does the course cover?

  • State the purposes for, and benefits of, using a risk assessment approach to the management of health and safety.
  • State the basic principles of risk assessment and stages involved in carrying out risk assessments in practice.
  • State the key legislative requirements on risk assessment.
  • Carry out, record, monitor and review risk assessments within their own working environment, (subject to possession of the necessary technical knowledge and skills).

Its main purpose is to enable learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment. This qualification will therefore give all employees the ability to contribute to the process and act always to protect their own health and safety and that of others.

Principles of COSHH is a stand-alone level 2 qualification, aimed at all those whose work may expose them to hazardous substances, and their managers. It introduces students to the wide range of hazardous substances, the risks involved and controls available, and what to expect from a COSHH assessment.
